About the event
The Fiji Tourism Stakeholders Resilience Talanoa is organized by the Massey University and jointly coordinated with the Ministry of Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport (MCTTT Fiji), and supported by the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
The Talanoa event, focussing on embedding resilience in future tourism planning, is designed to collect comments and feedback from the tourism industry, including the public and private sector as a crucial part of the consultative process to inform the development of the National Sustainable Tourism Framework (NSTF), the successor plan of the Fijian Tourism 2021 strategy.
Objectives of the event:
- Reflect, discuss, share and build a tourism knowledge community to inform future practice - giving voice to stakeholders on their experiences about their,
- Experiences of shocks (cyclone, coups, COVID)
- Strategies used to cope/adapt
- What do we need to withstand future shocks?
- Learn about the type of support that is needed to promote resilience and embed this within future tourism planning.
- Share industry perspectives on the type of support that was critical to being able to stay in business or recover for both small and large businesses
